In the mountains, everything slows down — the mind, the breath, the heart.
This is a little story of simple days, wild strawberries, fresh air, and family moments.
A reminder to pause, breathe, and enjoy what really matters.
Where is your place to slow down?
The mountains.
A place where I feel myself again. Where my mind slows down. Where my breath becomes calm. Where my heart doesn’t need to shout to be heard.
Here, I find peace. I find simplicity. Here, everything moves more slowly. Time doesn’t rush — it walks with us.
I love mountain views: tall peaks in the sky, the smell of pine trees, and the sound of water flowing in the valley. Everything in the mountains helps me slow down. Here, I remember what really matters.
Take your time.
Spend more moments in places that make you feel good. It can be the sea, the mountains, the countryside — or just a quiet corner in your city. Find that place where you can breathe better.
I find peace in the mountains. And you — where do you feel at home? Where does your soul smile? And who do you love to share it with?
Arriving and Taking Our First Walk
After some very hot days in Tuscany — over 35°C (95°F) — we packed the car and drove north. After 6 hours in the car, we arrived in the mountains with cool rain and fresh air. 18°C. What a change!
We stayed in a lovely village: Gressoney-Saint-Jean . Well kept, calm, beautiful.
Day 1–Taking Our First Walk
That first day, we went on a walk above the village. We followed a nice trail by the river, then through a green forest. At the top, we found an open valley with ski lifts and mountain huts. We even saw cows eating grass in the fields — calm and happy. The girls were excited. The air smelled clean. We were already feeling better.

Day 2– A Slow Walk and Sweet Strawberries
We woke up slowly. No alarm. Just sunlight and the smell of warm milk and jam. After breakfast, we took an easy walk in the woods.
The girls found wild strawberries — small and very sweet. They had never tasted them before. Their mouths were red from laughing and eating. We stopped often to enjoy the forest.
Lunch was simple — sandwiches and cold water. No rush. No plans. Just peace and time together.

Day 3 – A Birthday with Marmots and Glaciers
Today was special: it was my little girl’s birthday. She opened her gifts in the morning, with big smiles and hugs. Then we went on a hike to the Monte Rosa massif.
On the way, we saw marmots — they whistled at us and ran to hide. Later, we saw ibex on a mountain ridge, relaxing in the sun. The girls were so happy. We felt full of joy.
We had lunch near a glacier — it was huge and beautiful. But it made me think: What if it disappears one day? The planet is changing. Glaciers are melting.
Global warming isn’t in the future — it’s now.

Another Day – River Walk and Laughter
We followed a trail near a clear river. We found more strawberries. They laughed, played, and raced.
In the evening, we made crepes with jam. The girls helped. It felt like home.
“Slow Down, Mama”
She said it to me — with her small, honest voice. So I did.
We walked a longer trail that day. The sun was warm. I didn’t check the time. I looked at flowers, at our feet, at the path.
And I thought: Why did we choose the mountains?
To slow down. To listen to ourselves and to nature. To enjoy the silence. To feel free, even without a plan.

A Morning Alone with the Mountains
I woke up early. Everyone was still sleeping. I stepped out onto the terrace. The mountains looked like a painting.
I sat and picked up my crochet work. Stitch by stitch.
Each stitch felt like a memory. A choice. A quiet moment.
And I understood something:
going slow is an act of love — for myself, and for the planet.
Silence can heal. We just need to listen.
The Power of Saying No
One morning, we chose not to make any plans.
We said no to emails, to rushing, to pressure.
And instead, we said yes —
to playing in the grass, to dancing barefoot, to drinking tea in the sun.
We said yes to presence. Yes to now.
Going Home, But Changed
The car is packed. The girls fall asleep in the backseat.
We pass forests, stone houses, mountain trails. Then highways. Then home.
But something is different. We bring back more than memories.
We return with a new rhythm. A slower one.
We look at things differently.
We breathe deeper.
We are more together.
A Thought for the Planet
Looking at the glacier, I had a thought: What if one day it’s not there anymore?
Can we help the planet? Maybe — if we slow down. If we buy less, waste less, think more before we act.
Nature gives us everything. But we’re hurting it.
So take a moment today. Do something small to help:
🌱 Buy less.
🌱 Plant something.
🌱 Turn off lights.
🌱 Love more.
🌱 And most of all — slow down.

Final Thoughts
Slowness is not lazy — it’s love.
Simple things are powerful: a berry, a blanket, a true moment.
Silence can heal us.
We came home with less — but it felt like more.
No stress. Just meaning.
Family becomes stronger in nature, in quiet time, in love.
If you are feeling tired… take a breath. Slow down. Be present.
Look around you with fresh eyes. And remember:
You can always come back to slow living.
It’s waiting for you.
